Who are Harwoods Hygiene Specialists?

“25 Years Experience”…..

Harwoods was established in 1980 by Marilynne White. Having had several years experience in the industry already, Marilynne set about creating a business that would focus on particular sectors of the contract cleaning market and also exploit what she saw as weaknesses in the services offered by the competition. The initial contracts secured were for Scottish Equitable and the Art College in Edinburgh. From there she started to pick up contracts from various local and national businesses including construction, electronics, food and commercial. Harwoods continued to expand in a controlled manner and in 1999 the company moved premises to a 1,000 square metre facility in Bathgate, West Lothian that is now the business headquarters.

Year-on-year Harwoods have seen sustained growth with our turnover now exceeding £1 million. This success was rewarded in 2001 when Marilynne was awarded Business Woman Of The Year 2001 for the West Lothian region. This was recognition for all the hard work put in, not just by Marilynne but also by her fellow directors and loyal staff. Our success has been achieved by developing a reputation of supplying one of the most specialised and efficient services available in the market today.

“National Network Coverage”…..

During 2006 the Directors of Harwoods embarked on the next phase of our expansion by launching a national network, offering the same service throughout the U.K. as we have been doing for 25 years in Central Scotland. This expansion is being carried out through franchising.

Each of our franchisees has a financial investment within the business and it is in their own interests to ensure that they deliver a quality service and retain their clients. To this end their investment is at risk if the franchisee fails to do this. Therefore commitment and motivation are never in question from our network. We are sure that you’ll be more than happy with our service.

Franchising allows the business to be run with a flat management structure and low overheads, keeping costs down, while still maintaining a high quality of service. We are confident that we will be competitive in this marketplace.
